These Mizuhiki earrings bring a touch of tradition to your everyday life.
The origin of Mizuhiki industry dates back to the Edo period in Iyo (today's Shikokuchuo City in Ehime Prefecture),
where the production of paper hair tie flourished.
Back in the day, the samurai wore their hair in topknots using a paper hair tie.
However, after the Emperor of Meiji issued the hair cut edict encouraging the samurai to cut
their hair and sport Western hairstyles, the demand in paper hair tie significantly diminished.
And that led the industry to transition to Mizuhiki production.
Mizuhiki has been essential to Japanese gift-giving, as it is used to decorate the gifts
celebrating life and death - from birthdays, weddings to funerals.
Enjoy the true craftsmanship in these gorgeous Mizuhiki clip-on earrings.
